Howdy everybody and welcome to a Friday Product Submit that we have been excited for for a number of months now. Right this moment, we’re happy to announce the brand new SparkFun DataLogger IoT – 9DoF! That is our latest iteration of our knowledge logger line that options an on board IMU, new plug-and-play performance, the power to selected between a number of IoT community platforms, and extra! To not be outdone, we even have a brand new steel gear motor so that you can try if you happen to want a brand new sort of motor on your subsequent robotics tasks. Let’s take a more in-depth have a look at this week’s new merchandise!
Our new DataLogger IoT is right here to impress!
The SparkFun DataLogger IoT – 9DoF is a knowledge logger that comes preprogrammed to mechanically log IMU, GPS, and varied stress, humidity, and distance sensors. All with out writing a single line of code! The DataLogger mechanically detects, configures, and logs Qwiic sensors. It was particularly designed for customers who simply have to seize a whole lot of knowledge to a CSV or JSON file and get again to their bigger venture. Save the info to a microSD card or ship it wirelessly to your most popular Web of Issues (IoT) service!
Included on each DataLogger IoT is an IMU for built-in logging of a triple-axis accelerometer, gyro, and magnetometer. Whereas the unique 9DOF Razor used the previous MPU-9250, the DataLogger IoT makes use of the ISM330DHCX from STMicroelectronics and MMC5983MA from MEMSIC. Merely energy up the DataLogger IoT, configure the board to report readings from supported units, and start logging! Information could be time-stamped when the time is synced to NTP, GNSS, or RTC.
The DataLogger IoT – 9DoF mechanically scans, detects, configures, and logs varied Qwiic sensors plugged into the board (No soldering! No programming!). Try the product web page for a full checklist of at present supported boards that may be auto-detected.
This gearmotor consists of a low-power, 12V brushed DC motor mixed with a 9.68:1 steel spur gearbox, and it has an built-in 48 CPR quadrature encoder on the motor shaft, which offers 464.64 counts per revolution of the gearbox’s output shaft. The gearmotor is cylindrical, with a diameter slightly below 25mm, and the D-shaped output shaft is 4mm in diameter and extends 12.5mm from the face plate of the gearbox.
A two-channel Corridor impact encoder is used to sense the rotation of a magnetic disk on a rear protrusion of the motor shaft. The quadrature encoder offers a decision of 48 counts per revolution of the motor shaft when counting each edges of each channels. To compute the counts per revolution of the gearbox output, multiply the gear ratio by 48. The motor/encoder has six color-coded, 8in. (20cm) leads terminated by a 1×6 feminine header with a 0.1in. pitch.
That is it for this week. As all the time, we will not wait to see what you make. Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or tell us on Instagram, Fb or LinkedIn. Please be protected on the market, be sort to at least one one other! We’ll be again with extra new merchandise subsequent week so be sure to test again then. Glad hacking!

By no means miss a brand new product!
